Illuminatus

We celebrated Anne's 23rd birthday yesterday. Some friends came over and we had a lot of fun. It was a nice day.
But in the following night my cold came up bringing some fever. Already doing better today...

That sunday sucked

I can't explicitely tell what caused that Sunday to suck but it just did. I think there are about half a dozen interesting problems that are worth to be written and that I'd like to start but that I just do not have the time to write - that came into my mind today which was probably the main reason for this sunday to suck.
Of course it could be worse. Had a good trip with Anne back from home to university city though and met the group in the evening.

Got bashed (see Tob's current blog entry) for the XHTML icon. I think Tob is wrong. Putting this icon on the page is just my way to remember people that standards are there for a reason. Not only do they validate much better and help to build better website that run everywhere (all browsers, mobiles, PDAs...) but they help to build what's called by the buzz word semantic web currently. I should help to link information in a better way (define relation to other content). In the future it may even help to separate content from design, something most website owners are waiting for, XHTML is one step in that direction. There are some interesting points in the comments to Phil's current blog entry (unfortunately only in German language). We can't enforce people to use these standards, but we can remember them that they exist and worth it to be used.

Finally Helgar bashed a bit cause I explained problems to her she didn't have at that time. Should better now go to bed fast to not get into one of that lenghty conversations with Buck tonight. Need some sleep, at least fixed a bug in that blog posting code that annoyed me long enough now :-)

Once again

The new semester has started. And our start was special. We went to the Madrid bistro. It\'s a great place and we made it a tradition to go there on the first day of a new semester and have a Baguette Rosario (long baguette with spanish salami, great!). This is the one time in the semester that I can meet most of the people I started with three years ago. So Arnd, Buck, Christoph, Helgar, Medha, Sandi, Stefan, Tob and I (alphabetical order, and everybody has a webpage, computer science students.... :-) were there. Great time.

This semester will be busy waiting finishing some stuff. I will attend a lecture about computer forensics which sounds promising and will do some practical physics and agent coding (beside my job).

Bad AdSense ads

Today I got another mail stating ads about H. (see the blog entry Parallels and its comment for a description of that problem). So I contacted Google for a second time asking them to finally get rid of those ads. I can\'t understand why they let those in the system in the first place... And there is no phrase filter that would allow to ban those ads one and for all from my page. I will try it another week. I changed the name on the page so I hope these ads will not appear again since the keyword will no longer be on that page. If this doesn\'t work out (please let me know for any ads of this kind! Please also take a screenshot and send it so that I have a proof to show to Google) I will remove the banner ads from the page. Also this would mean a couple of bucks less a month...

Snoopy

Medha I'm sorry but I broke the Snoopy glass :-/
