Pizza

I think Helgar owes me a pizza. See this. It's just 10.10c though... Wine roxorz.

Daypack, backpack, be right back

This weekend I bought a new notebook daypack. I decided for the Jack Wolfskin X File. Seems to be good till now :-)

Later Anne and I went to the Globetrotter in Bonn. We wanted to buy rucksacks for our Scotland trip next year. It took quite a time and we tried about half a dozen of different models. But this helped to learn how to tweak all the strips and bands to get a good fit. In the end we both decided for the same model which was the most comfortable model for us both (set to different lengths of course): the Deuter Aircontact 65+10. They didn't have that in the store so we have to order it. Will try to get different colors at least :-)
We also had a talk with Globetrotter employee (which was really good and explained a lot to us) about tents. So we decided on the Tatonka Arctis III. If you need some outdoor stuff Globetrotter seems to be a good choice because of the competent people there.

Sunday was sooo lazy. And that with all the stress coming up the next three weeks...

Fun

Damn, hacking is too much fun... Ported some Java stuff from JDK 1.4 to 1.5. Some of the new features are really interesting. Now I have to get that Java Comm API working again. Way too late...

Amiga demos

Today I did some boring work resampling some data we recorded earlier. But the afternoon was better.

First Medha and I worked on getting Jade running. This beast is tricky. It took us a while to find out why connecting containers remotely to the managing machine failed: The name of the machine has to be exactly what you connect to! So you need a FQDN that matches the name of your machine. That's usually not what you have if you get the addresses via DHCP...
Then I filed a bug which actually is one :-) Got it fixed as you can see with the help of Johnny Five.

And in the evening I played around with my Amiga again. Played a game of Space Crusade. Great feeling after that many years :-) Also watched the intro of Dune 2 and eventually I saw some Amiga demos. They rock! I really like modern demos (Tob always tells me what is worth to be downloaded :-), but the old demos have a completely different flair. I can still remember some of the crack intros from the old days...

Amiga - one up, one down

Today I fired up my Amigas. One seems to be broken, right after starting up to load a screen it fails. Have to look into this. The other one is working fine. On of the additional disk drives seems to be broken, too. Pretty old hardware... The older machine is now about 15 years old. And the game that I played as the first game ever on a computer is still working - Amegas!

The disks I tried so far were all working. Great. Still need a way to read the disks on a PC and make images. UAE compatible would be nice. Need to google for it a bit. Or does anybody know how to do that? Writing these UAE images back to a disk would be great, too :-) But as far as I know there is some kind of incompatibility between Amiga and PC floppies. Have to find out...
