India I'm coming!
Today is the last day before my India trip. We are a group of five and will fly to Delhi tomorrow with a stop in Istanbul. From there we will go to Jaipur and stay there for a day before taking a train to Agra. We will stay there for two nights and days. Of course we are going to visit the Taj Mahal! After that we will travel to Varanasi and stay there for a day. We will not stay there over night but take the night train to Calcutta. We have not yet decided how long to stay there. I guess it will be one day or at most two. From there we will go to Darjeeling. This is where transportation is getting a bit trickier. Probably nothing compared to the trip from their to Gangtok in Sikkim after staying for about three days in Darjeeling. We will stay for about a week in Gangtok. We have not yet decided what to do there. We will probably visit some monasteries, there are some quiet popular ones, for one day trips. We may even do a two or three day trekking trip. Trekking in Himalaya, great! Of course nothing spectacular. We are neither trained nor do we have the equipment needed for a more advanced enterprise...
So this is the plan. Now let's see what works and what does not...

Spring
Yesterday we had a first sign of spring. Yay! I enjoyed walking down the hill from work in the evening...
Anne and I had a good weekend. On Saturday we went to the Globetrotter in Bonn to buy some last items for my trip to India. Carsten (who is one of the five group members I will be travelling with to India) joined us. We had a lot of fun. We bought hats - no caps and stuff, the real thing! With a wide brim for sun protection. So now I have almost all together. Just waiting for an last order from Globetrotter (what they didn't have in the shop)...
On Sunday we went to a park in the north of Cologne right next to the Rhine. I put my fingers into the Rhine for the first time since years, and that while living right next to it. We had a great time. It was pretty windy but not raining so pretty good conditions for a walk. We took the tube to get back home and boarded at the zoo so I passed the Onager's that gave my little palm app the name.

"Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place.
Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are,
by definition, not smart enough to debug it." - Brian W. Kernighan
Found on lkml. That's one to note...

It works!
Finally we fixed JADE. Now we get correct timestamps from the event queue - benchmarking++ :-)

Busy
I passed the stochastics exams. Woohoo! One more to go. This could have ruined our Scotland trip - but it didn't :-)
I have been pretty busy over the last weeks. Right now I'm trying to get some YUV to RGB conversion code working using MMX. Getting closer. Now waiting for some sample pictures.
Yesterday I have been at Helgar's party to celebrate her intermediate diploma. Was a really great party! Thanx Helgar. After that we went to Rudi to celebrate his (final) diploma. Play some kicker games with Lutz and we won :-)
Medha and I are now at Dagstuhl to attend a developer conference. We worked with JADE and wrote a benchmarking agent for the framework. It seems that we have to fix a couple of bugs to get it working with useful timing data. More to come...
Beside all that boring "what I did" information I can tell that Anne and I had a wonderful weekend - although it was pretty full with stuff we had planned, a trip to Globetrotter for buying some stuff for the India trip just being of it.
